The Funhouse is the short name for The Funhouse Discovery Center of Orcas Island. The Funhouse is a very popular Orcas Island attraction, full of activities and entertainment. The Funhouse offers an amazing cornucopia of fun, many hands-on interactive exhibits about science, music, geography, history, sports, and there's also a pitching cage with speed gun, an art studio, a recording studio with musical instruments, a video production room, a climbing wall, two video pods for viewing one of their 800 videos, a small library, a lounge, gaming area with pool table, and a half dozen DSL computers to surf the net or check your e-mail! You can participate in many of the programs they offer such as: video and audio production, improvisational theater, poetry, beading, computer classes and women's self-defense! While they cater mostly to off-island visitors during the summer months, the rest of the year is dedicated to providing local kids with a place to hang out and to participate in many programs. The Funhouse is where people of all ages can take classes, organize events/parties or hold meetings. All are welcome. Orcas Island Recreation Program welcomes youth, teens, adults, and families to its year round programs. Recreation programs are open to people of all experience and skill levels. Each activity is lead by instructors that value everyone's participation. Individuals will be supported and encouraged to play and develop skills at a level that reflects individual personal achievement. Orcas Island Recreation Program is committed to creating an environment that supports individuality, cooperation, safety, trust, and respect. Orcas Theatre and Community Center offers year-round events, concerts, plays, musicals, dances, art exhibits, adult and children's activities. The Orcas Theatre and Community Center facility features a 213-seat theatre, a multi-purpose community room, and a beautiful lobby that functions as a gallery for the visual arts. "Stage on the Green" is a performance stage constructed on Orcas Island, in the heart of Eastsound on the village green. It compliments and enhances all Orcas Island community events, currently held on the Village Green. Orcas Island events include the Orcas Island Library Fair, Bite of Orcas, Historical Days, Orcas Island Farmers Market, held on Saturdays, and the Orcas Island Concerts in the Park summer program. This new "Stage on the Green" serves as a focal point for many community gatherings which will celebrate the special nature of Orcas Island.

The Orcas Island Sportsmen Club, (OISC) was founded in 1949, and is one of the oldest private, non-profit, community organizations on Orcas Island. OISC welcomes visitors. If you would like to come shoot, or perhaps learn more about membership in the sportsmen club, come down anytime during range hours or contact the club. Orcas Island Kayaks is located at Lieber Haven Resort and Marina at Obstruction Pass, just 4 miles past Moran State Park. Get close to marine birds and wildlife with a paddle at Obstruction Pass. Obstruction Pass is the most popular kayaking location on Orcas Island, due to having a sandy beach, close to numerous tide pools, an abundant amount of marine life to view, and the location is very close to other islands to kayak to. The calm waters of Obstruction Pass Bay are perfect for beginners, while a faster moving current out in the channel offers most of the time a relaxed paddle, and sometimes a more challenging excursion for experience paddlers. Orcas Island Historical Museum 360-376-4849 Orcas Island Museum
The Orcas Island Historical Museum has a campaign "Helping More People Connect with Orcas Island History". The Orcas Island Historical Museum is unique in being the only object-based, interpretive heritage facility for the island, with a permanent collection comprised of approximately 6000 objects, paper documents and photographs. Various island families donated original homestead cabins built during the 1870s and the 1890s to the Society. Volunteers disassembled the structures at their original sites, then moved, reconstructed and linked the structures together to create the main museum facility. These cabins now over a hundred years old, house the collections, but are considered important historical artifacts in themselves. Each cabin serves as a space for interpreting specific aspects of Orcas Island history as told through the life stories and material culture of the First Peoples and early European-American settlers of this area. On Crow Valley Road is the nonprofit Crow Valley School Museum. The Crow Valley School Museum is on the National Register of Historic Places. Crow Valley School Museum is a 1888 territorial one-room school with original furnishings, featuring childhood memorabilia and historic photographs.

Moran State Park
Moran State Park is the largest public recreation area in the San Juan Islands. Mount Constitution in Moran State Park is the highest mountain in the San Juan Islands. On the drive up the mountain there are several locations to view the San Juan Islands archipelago, and a 360 degree viewing tower at the top of the mountain. The view from Mount Constitution is noted for being one of the most scenic views in the world. While the bulk of walking, hiking trails and biking trails are located at Moran State Park, there are several locations around Orcas Island that offer trails suitable for all interests and fitness levels. Obstruction Pass State Park
Obstruction Pass State Park offers a great hike down to a cove, the public beach is popular for viewing tide pools and sitting around the campfire. Obstruction Pass State Park also has a camping area with 11 campsites and toilets, including 3 mooring buoys for those that want boat in camping on Orcas Island. Go 1 mile past Trailhead Road, the turn off to Obstruction Pass State Park, you will find the Obstruction Pass public dock, and launch ramp. Obstruction Pass public dock, launch ramp and Obstruction Pass State Park are located on the Southeast side of Orcas Island, just 4 miles past Moran State Park

 

Waterfront Park
Waterfront Park is a San Juan County park on Orcas Island. Waterfront Park is open for day use, with picnic tables, porta potties and public beach access. Waterfront Park is located across from Outlook Inn, in Eastsound.

You can take a small tour of the San Juan Islands waterways and tour the ferry serviced islands by the Washington State Ferry! When you purchase your WSF ticket you are paying for a round trip ticket. You pay to go West. Ex: Let's say your going to Orcas Island rather than go straight back to Anacortes you would like to visit Shaw or Lopez Island, there is no charge for using the inter-island WSF (eastbound ) you can get off the ferry, and stay as long as you want on any Island, then get back on any ferry bound for Anacortes, NO Charge.
